Frequently asked questions
Do parents need an app or an account?
No. Parents can view photos simply via a secure link or QR code directly in the browser. No download, no registration, no password to remember. Parents receive their personal access once, for example at the enrolment meeting.
Can multiple educators upload photos together?
Yes. Photos are stored centrally and can be managed securely by the whole team. Every educator can upload photos and assign them to children, from any device.
Can I assign photos directly to a specific child?
Yes. When uploading, simply select which child (or children) the photo belongs to. This works directly in the app or in the browser, quickly and easily.
What happens with group photos?
Group photos can be assigned to multiple children at the same time, without uploading them more than once. Each assigned child then appears automatically in the respective parents' album.
Are we even allowed to take photos at kindergarten?
Photos of children may only be taken and shared with the consent of their parents or guardians. That is what the GDPR requires. zeitkapsl was developed specifically for this context: consent can be stored per child, and photos are made accessible only to the respective parents.
Do we need our own work phones for this?
No. zeitkapsl works on any device. If photos are taken on personal smartphones, they are stored securely in zeitkapsl after upload, separated from the personal device and centrally manageable for the whole team.
We use a digital camera, not a smartphone. Does that work?
No problem. Photos can be uploaded directly from any PC or Mac into zeitkapsl.
How much does zeitkapsl cost for our kindergarten?
The price is €5 net per child per year, with no setup costs or minimum contract period. For a kindergarten with 25 children that is €125 net per year. Less than a group outing.
Is zeitkapsl truly GDPR compliant?
Yes. Our servers are located in Germany and data never leaves the EU. Thanks to end-to-end encryption, we do not store any personal image data in plain text. zeitkapsl is developed in Austria and is subject to European data protection law.
