Recovery Kit

Your recovery kit lets you reset your password if you ever forget it. You receive it as a PDF download when you create your account, and it works even if you lose access to your devices.

Please store it securely, just like an important document such as your birth certificate.

Without it, your data cannot be restored

Because your library is end-to-end encrypted, we have no access to it. If you forget your password and do not have your recovery kit, there is no way for us or anyone else to recover your data.

Keep your recovery emergency kit secret

Anyone who has your recovery kit can reset your password, and disable two-factor authentication on your account. It bypasses your password and 2FA entirely, so possessing it is enough to take over your account completely. Protect your recovery kit well and keep it in a secure locked/encrypted location!

Downloading a new recovery kit

If you still know your current password, you can generate and save a new recovery kit any time in your account settings.

Look for Emergency Kit or Secret Key and you will find a download button. It contains your key as a long string you can type in, or you can scan the QR code if you are using your phone.
